Recently we had a gingerbread house-making at church and this is my end result. I have never made or decorated a gingerbread house before, so it was exciting to do it for the first time. To make the actual house we purchased pre-baked kits that come with all of the house components, icing and lollies to decorate. The kits were made by Gingerbread Folk. When we opened up the kit to start building the house, the gingerbread smelt so good we wanted to eat it right then!
Prior to the event I browsed through Pinterest and got some ideas on how I wanted to decorate my house. I used the icing to decorate the sides of the house, then assembled the structure and finished off with the roof. It was very easy to put together (the icing is super quick drying and very strong). I also attempted to make a snowman from some jellybeans. It sort of worked, although he looks a bit wonky and doesn’t have a face! At the end of the day I ended up with a gingerbread house and most of the lollies (as I kind of didn’t use any). Everyone had a great time and I can’t wait to eat my gingerbread house!!!
Beautiful job! Im thinking about how to decorate ours this year now, i suspect with a wee girl in the house your lovely pink and white colours would go down very well x
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful Yana! Leave me some to try as I never ever had one before:)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I've always wanted to give it a try but maybe next year and Ellie might be able to do it with me as well...unless I find one on sale soon. xx
ReplyDeleteWoah! Talk about skill, this is amazing Yana! Man I'm never letting you see my Gingerbread houses. ha they look like shacks compared to this. Seriously great job, I love the link and white color pallete and the powdered sugar sprinkled roof. This seriously was your very first time making one? Holy crap Yana, you are seriously amazing. I am very, very impressed.
ReplyDeleteAlso side note, I love love the word lollies. ha I so wish we called it that but alas, here in the US we're stuck with the word "candy". I loved when I was there how everyone called them lollies though, ha I think it's the funnest thing.
