Dungarees! Welcome to the fashion of 1978. I was lucky to be given this fabulous book called "Children's Wardrobe" by Ann Ladbury and it has some very lovely retro patterns.
These overalls (or dungarees as they are called in the book) are just so cute!!! I've been planning on making some overalls for a while, but haven't found a suitable pattern / design. Until now.
They were super easy to make and I had fun with top-stitching. I moved the zipper opening from the center to the side seam (as my little miss has learnt the art of opening zippers and I didn't want her to be tempted) and did my first lapped zipper insertion. It looks much nicer and was not hard at all. I also decided to have the straps close on the outside in the front rather than underneath the front bodice. The cute flower buttons on the straps are purely decorative, as they really close with snaps underneath.
I am already planning on making another pair!!!
How cute does M look in those beautifully made Dungarees.. clever woman xx

ReplyDeleteOh my!! Cute! I'm in the middle of cutting out an overall pattern for Elka, from the 1960s, they are soooo practical! These ones are ridiculously cute, especially in that fabric!
ReplyDeleteThey are so groovy! Love the fabric, and those buttons - what a fabulous outfit.
ReplyDeleteSuch cute overalls!!! Love how you've added decorative buttons over snaps... looks great, but so practical. Thanks for linking up @Threading My Way
