lisette continental dress toile

Lisette202
This is my practice Lisette Continental dress. The pattern is very simple and the instructions were very easy to follow. A couple of the reviews I read mentioned the dress being very roomy, so I decided to cut a size smaller than the one suggested by my measurements. This was a wise decision and I perfectly like this size. The only alteration I made was shortening the height of the shoulders, which made the armholes slightly smaller and brought the neckline higher. I also sewed the inside of the neckline and armhole biding by hand. It took me a few hours, but not having stitches on the right side of the dress makes it look very neat.

I would have liked to add some inseam pockets, but having the lining would have made it too complicated. I will definitely add them to my next dress though.
I am very happy with my practice dress and I even wore it to the craft show last weekend!!! It is a pleasure to wear it (except for the belt rising up all the time) and I can’t wait to make the red number.
Cam from CurlyPops, the hostess of the sew-along, has completed her dress too. She added some belt loops (great idea) and some pockets. Go and have a look at her lovely dress here.

Can you add some belt loops to make it easier to wear?

  4. Its gorgeous, love that fabric! I haven't worn mine out yet, so don't know if my belt moves, i'm assuming it will a bit. I may have to get Cam to teach me belt loops haha

  5. You've done a great job Yana. I love your practice dress fabric too. Am interested that you made the smaller size. I measured a size 16 on the pattern, and because I bought the smaller one {as I'm normally a size 12} I can't use it. I was thinking of trying the size 14 anyway, what do you think?

  6. So pretty! Well done. Love that you are clever enough to make your own adjustments - I'm not clever enough for that yet!
