megan nielsen perfect nursing top

Here is my finished Megan Nielsen Perfect Nursing Top. While the pattern itself was lovely to work with I am not 100% happy with the result. First, I didn't have enough fabric in either the blue or the brown for the entire top, so I had to settle for colour-blocking. It was a challenge to cut out all the pieces following the grain, as both fabrics were remnants from other projects. Second, the modesty panel was not quite the right size, so I had to insert some darts to make it actually modest. It was sitting way too low for my liking. Third, the neckline and sleeve hems stretched out while being finished, so they don't look that nice. And since I constructed most of the top on my overlocker, the seams are not very straight (its a bit tricky to follow a 5/8" seam allowance on the overlocker). Finally, I think my knit fabric was too thin for this project. So all these factors combined, this top is not what I was hoping it would be. I am just going to accept it, learn from my mistakes and move on. I will probably still wear it around the house, its quite comfy and presentable, but it won't be going out into the public. As to whether I will make another one, I am still undecided.

  1. It looks nice to me and I like brown and blue together. After wearing it at home, making sure it's comfy and works well "in use" maybe you will feel like making another one if different fabric:) x

  2. I like it! If you're not comfortable with it then I can understand that you wouldn't want to wear it out, but it's such a lovely design I think it's definitely worth trying to conquer again!!!
