lovely lady loafers

Today I would like to show you another Christmas present I made this year – Lovely Lady Loafers (i.e. house slippers) for Katia. We exchanged our Christmas presents already so I am free to blog about them now. I even got Katia to model them for me for my photos.

I found the pattern while either reading someone’s blog or browsing online, I don’t remember! But I fell in love with the slippers as soon as I saw them. I decided to make them for Katia for Christmas and then some for myself after the holidays. I actually checked out all of the Two Girls Patterns and bought another 3. They have a 4 pattern deal in their store and it was tough to choose only 4. I wanted all of them!

So I bought some lovely Bendigo Yarn wool (see the Christmas preparations post) and started to work on them right away. They are fairly easy to make, but I still learnt a few things along the way. The pattern is easy to read and there are lots of helpful pictures. The only thing I didn’t like about the pattern was the suggestion to make a sole to test out the gauge. I did that and unfortunately the sole was so small that it was unusable. So I played around with different hooks and it took me 5 minutes to work out which hook and size will work best for Katia’s size. It took me way longer than 5 minutes to make the sole. Lesson learnt!!! Otherwise I was quite happy with the pattern and the final product. Katia said she liked them too and that they fit well. :) I am looking forward to making a pair for myself and testing them out on my cold tiles at home (although in the heat we’ve been having, cold tiles are a welcome change).
