Reading crafty blogs is dangerous! They inspire and draw you in to make things, when you already have a long list. This is what happened to me this week. I was reading Caroline’s post and right at the end she mentioned joining a sew-along to sew a summer dress. I, of course, had to check out the link, which led me to joining the sew-along too!
There was a problem though. I needed the pattern, which is a new line of Simplicity patterns called Lisette, particularly #2059. I also needed fabric. It just happened that Spotlight have a 50% off sale on Lisette patterns and 20% off on Lisette fabrics at the moment. So a trip was in order and I came home with both the pattern and the exact same fabric as on the pattern envelope. I really liked the dress in that fabric.
I also picked up this lovely grey thin cotton for quite cheap (like 3 dollars a meter!!). So I’m planning on making a toile in this one first and if there are any adjustments required, I will be able to apply them to the red number. This cotton is actually quite thin and slightly see-though (more like a voile, but no description apart from 100% assorted cotton was given on the label), so I think I will have to line it.
Would you like to join us? The details can be found at CurlyPops. One participant has already made a lovely dress. Check it out HERE. I can’t wait to start sewing (deadline is 30 of March)!!!
Beautiful fabrics (and yes, I loved lined dresses) - I'm sure you will do them justice. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the toile idea! I'm using something cheap from my stash first... just in case.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea about making a toile. I have trouble with sizing patterns!
ReplyDeleteLove the design and materials :)
ReplyDeleteLike both of those fabrics. I almost picked up the same fabric, but in the grey and green, then decided I'd try something else first... surprise coming. :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see yours finished.
Love both of those fabrics, I'm not sure if I will be able to hold off getting a bit of that red fabric for myself!
