This is the ruffle shirt I made Maria to wear on her first birthday. When I first saw the shirt featured on MeSewCrazy (made by A Couple of Craft Addicts) I knew I had to make it. Such a cute shirt for a little girl. Lucky for me there was a tutorial to follow!
I am very happy with how it turned out. The fabrics I used were Kei Japan Flower Patch in Aqua and coordinating Robert Kaufman Kona Solids in Eggplant. I was also lucky to find some buttons in the matching colour. The tutorial was easy to follow, although I made a few adjustments. I reduced the width of the ruffles from 2” to 1.5”, and the back button panel from 4” to 3”. It was a bit difficult not knowing the seam allowances and just guessing, but it worked in the end. I think for my next shirt (there will be another one!) I will take Maria’s measurements and make a more accurate pattern.
Loved it. It was so perfect on her. x
ReplyDeleteCute, cute! (Maria and the shirt). Did you buy the fabric online? I'm looking for a good source of Kona cotton solids. Can't wait to see what you do with the next one! :)
ReplyDeleteCute! I love the fabric choice. And the buttons down the back are adorable. Great job Yana!
