This morning, Katia and I made a trip to The Way We Wear Fair in Marrickville Town Hall. The fair is all about vintage clothing, accessories, footwear, etc. There was also a “Titanic costume exhibition of original 1910 – 1920 consumes”.
The dresses above and below were my favourite at the fair. Both of them (I think) are 1940s era and I just love this style. I am determined to make one for myself now (as soon as I find a pattern!). I would have loved to buy them, but for a cost of $200-$300, they were slightly above my price range…
I did buy something though…. This lovely vintage tote bag, and
a linen tea towel, made in Ireland, with some fun writing on it. I have some grand plans for it!
I am linking up with Flea Market Finds today, so head over there and browse other thrifty adventures. :)
Oh the thrill of a vintage frock... so elegant and purty!
ReplyDeleteThe Titanic exhibition sounds like it must have been really interesting!
ReplyDeleteThose dress are just lovely - the silhouettes are so pretty :-)

The first dress is so me if I only had a waist for it:) Hope you get a lot of use from that bag and I cannot wait to see the tea towel framed!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I DO love vintage dresses of that callibre. I have a few that belonged to my mum and grandmother. My guess would be that the dresses might be 1950's though - there is a lot of fabric in the skirt. There was less fabric used in the '40's because of the war. Whatever the decade, they are superb! :)
ReplyDeleteGosh those dresses are pretty! Love the tote too.
ReplyDeleteWow they are beautiful dresses. Love the tote bag too. x
