style “C”

I have completed the first project from my new Japanese sewing book called “Stylish Dress Book 2”.
The style “C” is a singlet top with spaghetti straps.

Since it was my first time trying out a Japanese pattern, I decided the finished top will be used as pyjamas. I added some matching shorts, using a pattern from one of my Burda sewing magazines.

I have found that using Japanese sewing book is not very difficult, even though I do not speak the language. There were a few instances where I wasn’t sure about a few things, but I worked it all out in the end.
One thing I didn’t like is that the top is shorter and wider than I thought it would be. For my next project I would have to add some length and reduce the width of the garment.
I have enjoyed sewing with this book and I’m looking forward to making something else.

  1. Your dress turned out really cool!
I find it difficult to work on Japanese sewing books too when I'm making clothing. Those books are so often for very experienced people and lots of things I don't know are not described since they are considered basic knowledge! You did an amazing job though!!
